Local Housing/Community Development Tour

The Denver Housing Authority will be hosting an optional bus tour for conference attendees.

Sun Valley Reimagined: Public Housing Transformations
Sun Valley is one of the nation’s most innovative mixed-finance public housing transformations, integrating finance, design, infrastructure, and community voice into a cohesive model. Over 10 years, the Denver Housing Authority leveraged a $34 million HUD Choice Neighborhoods grant into more than $500 million in redevelopment, guided by resident priorities. DHA retained long-term ownership through ground leases while deploying complex capital stacks, including bonds, intergovernmental agreements, LIHTC (4% and 9%), NMTC, market-rate units, and project-based vouchers. This tour highlights how community engagement and sophisticated public–private financing can create scalable, mission-aligned redevelopment models for housing authorities nationwide.

The tour will occur on Thursday, October 15, 1:45pm – 4:30pm.

For those that pre-register for the tour, your ticket will be printed on your conference name-badge. All tour attendees must present ticket to board the bus.

The tour will depart from and return to the Colorado Convention Center. Arrive early, the tour will depart promptly at 1:45pm.

Refunds will NOT be available for on-site tour cancellations or no-shows.
