2026 Campaign Dates: August 3 – September 4

August Advocacy has traditionally helped NAHRO members raise their voices while Members of Congress are back home during August recess. After back-to-back record-breaking years of grassroots advocacy, NAHRO members have shown that housing and community development providers are trusted local voices who can connect federal policy decisions to real people, properties, staff, and communities.

In 2026, the campaign is expanding into a broader local engagement effort that reflects the growing strength of NAHRO’s advocacy network!

Each week, NAHRO Advocates will send letters, set up site visits, plan in-district meetings with decision makers from Congress to City Council, and engage with local media to amplify the local impact of federal programs. NAHRO members nationwide are encouraged to begin planning events in the month of August with Week 4 reserved for virtual and in-district advocacy meetings with elected officials of all levels.

Week 1 (August 3-7) • Preserve and Protect Vouchers Week

Week 2 (August 10-14) • Affordable Housing Preservation Week (Public Housing & PBRA)

Week 3 (August 17-21) • Housing & Community Development Programs Week

Week 4 (August 24-28) • Bring Housing Home Week (In-District/Virtual Advocacy Meetings)

Week 5 (August 31 – September 4) • Reduce Homelessness Week
