COVID-19 Related Materials Available on HUD’s Website

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has published several items related to the COVID-19 event on their website. Each of these items may offer useful information to PHAs in navigating the COVID-19 event.

• COVID-19 FAQs for Public Housing Agencies (updated to Version 3; April 22, 2020) – the new document integrates information from HUD’s CARES Act Eviction Moratorium Q&A for PHAs (4/21/2020); updates the list of key resources listed; updates information on procurement; updates information on treatment of federal unemployment benefits related to the CARES Act; and make numerous other additions;
• COVID-19 Waiver Summary Chart (MS-Word) – a well-organized chart listing each COVID-19 waiver (the waivers can be found in PIH 2020-05), the statutes or regulations it is waiving or providing alternative requirements for, a quick summary of the alternative requirements, a note on the end of availability of the waiver, a column to track whether a PHA implemented the waiver or alternative requirement, and a column to track the date of adoption of the waiver;
• PowerPoint Slides of the HUD PIH Industry stakeholder call on April 17, 2020;
• Multifamily Tenant Concerns COVID-19 Brochure – a COVID-19 brochure designed to inform and address concerns of tenants living at multifamily properties; the brochure’s content applies to programs within the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs, but does not apply to Public Housing, Section 8 Mod. Rehab. (unless insured by the Federal Housing Administration), or the Housing Choice Voucher program (unless the voucher is used in a multifamily property with an FHA-insured mortgage); and
• HUD PIH Flyer for Tenants on the Eviction Moratorium – HUD PIH sent an email to PHA Executive Directors, which included a flyer (in PDF format) for tenants discussing the temporary eviction moratorium. This flyer applies to tenants in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, Public Housing program, and Section 8 Mod. Rehab. program.
