Celebrations and Transitions

As we near the end of 2024, I am pleased to report that the state of your NAHRO is strong, and we have much to celebrate. Here are just a few highlights of our year: 

• We have a 99% member retention rate – thank you! -;  

• More than 5,700 of you attended a NAHRO Professional Development training this year, and more than 90% of survey respondents rated their experience as very good or good; 

• More than 20,000 of you subscribe to the NAHRO Monitor (if you’re a NAHRO member and you don’t receive it, please email memberservices@nahro.org);  

• Our National Conference and Exhibition in Florida was a sellout event; and 

• More than 3,800 of you attended our Housing Update from Washington online briefings, which are free to members! 

We’ve also been literally meeting you where you are – 106 in-person trainings and more than 50 NAHRO staff presentations to regional and chapter events. I’m thrilled that our networking and informational offerings are so well-received and look forward to providing you with more and better services next year.  

I’d also like to celebrate the 12 talented winners of our What Home Means to Me poster calendar contest! Their prize-winning art and quotes about the importance of their homes are showcased in our 2025 What Home Means to Me calendar. Members, you should be receiving your copy soon. Everyone else, you can buy them on our website – they make great (and inspirational!) holiday presents. 

Just in time for your New Year’s resolutions, NAHRO will be debuting a new learning portal. It will be easier than ever to train and get certified with us! You should have already received an email on how to get ready for the new learning portal, also in this issue of the Monitor. 

With the new year comes a new Congress and administration. Recently, we released a presidential transition report that introduces NAHRO, its members, and our shared housing and community development priorities to the incoming administration. Early next year, we’ll release our 2025 policy priorities and our 2025 Legislative and Regulatory Agenda. 

We’re also getting ready to hold our largest advocacy event of the year – the 2025 Washington Conference.  We’ll have informational sessions on the latest from HUD and Capitol Hill, plenary speakers such as CNN’s Laura Coates sharing what to expect from a new administration in 2025, and of course, Hill Day, when hundreds of housers will meet with their elected representatives and educate them about the work they do in their communities. As the new administration takes shape, it’s important to speak up and let your needs – and your triumphs – be heard.
