HUD Publishes Notice Confirming Immigration Verification Requirement for CPD Programs

HUD published a notice in the Federal Register that lays out their interpretation of “Federal public benefit” as used in Title IV of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA). The interpretation confirms applicability of PRWORA immigration requirements for CPD programs that may have been exempt previously.

HUD Publishes Letter on Screening Criminal Responsibilities

HUD’s Office of Multifamily Housing Programs announced by email the publication of a letter … regarding criminal background screenings of potential and current residents of HUD-assisted housing. The letter mentions several documents issued by HUD in the past that are now rescinded and outlines the obligation of HUD, PHAs, and owners to provide decent, safe, and affordable housing to millions.
