HUD assisted housing residents most likely receive health insurance coverage via the Medicaid program. Without insurance, access to doctors, medications, behavioral health care and in home services becomes almost impossible. HR1, the federal law contains the largest cuts to Medicaid in its history and over 7.5 million people are expected to lose health insurance coverage over the next 10 years. The session will highlight the aspects of the law that are barriers to health insurance coverage. The session will offer strategies and resources that help resident services staff make sure everyone who remains eligible stays enrolled in the program.
