The Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) Voucher can be paired with the Family Self-Sufficiency Program to not only extend the time the voucher holder has in housing, but also to increase the Foster Youth’s economic status upon leaving the housing program.
This session expands the housing staff’s knowledge of how to blend these two programs for optimal outcomes for your participants. This session will answer recruitment questions by starting with a quick overview of the FYI regulation, will move to a review of the partners, and end with attendee insights regarding how the program is currently operating at their PHA. Lastly, with collaborative brainstorming and insights, session attendees will leave with a written plan (and benchmarks) to increase the number of FYI youth in their FSS program.
