My Dear NAHRO Family,

The 2024 election has been decided. No matter whom you voted for, we are united by our shared vision of thriving communities with affordable homes for all and by the work we do in our communities to achieve this. In January 2025, we’ll have a new administration with new priorities and planned policies, and we need to prepare ourselves to work with them.

That process is already underway. Your NAHRO staff has prepared a presidential transition report that includes policies, legislative proposals, and regulatory actions that we believe will increase our ability to provide safe and secure housing to all Americans nationwide. They’re sending this document to the incoming administration to introduce them to NAHRO, our members, and the millions of people we serve nationwide. Then, early next year, we’ll receive a new Legislative and Regulatory Agenda in time for our 2025 Washington Conference.

That’s where collaboration becomes essential. As the current administration and Congress wind down and the new batch takes office, we must work with NAHRO staff and each other to ensure that our voices are heard and our priorities are clear. We need to introduce ourselves to new members of Congress and the administration and strengthen existing ties with the lawmakers and HUD staff we know. We’ll have the opportunity to do that in March 2025 at NAHRO’s 2025 Washington Conference in the nation’s capital, so mark your calendars now.

At our Washington Conference, you will be provided with the tools necessary to intentionally collaborate and make a collective impact: free Congressional meeting scheduling, the Legislative and Regulatory Agenda, and informative sessions that will bring you up to date on the latest policies and regulations from HUD and Capitol Hill. The rest is up to us, and I hope to see you there.

The NAHRO Elections

Last month’s successful National Conference and Exhibition in Orlando also marked the beginning of NAHRO’s election season. Every two years, we elect a president and a senior vice president, who then appoint NAHRO’s committee and leadership group members for the 2025-2027 term. You will soon find more information about the candidates in this edition of the NAHRO Monitor and other communications.
