(WASHINGTON, DC– July 23, 2020) At the NAHRO Online 2020 Summer Conference, Housing America Advisory Committee Chair Richie Herrington announced the names of seven Merit College Scholarship awardees. Each student will receive $1,000 from NAHRO and an additional $1,000 from Kentucky-based affordable housing developer LDG Development to support them in their higher education pursuits.

This year’s scholarship awardees are:

• Abby from Northern Cambria, Penn. (Johnstown Housing Authority)
• Alice from Cranston, R.I. (Cranston Housing Authority)
• Anastasia from Central Point, Ore. (Housing Authority of Jackson County)
• Ariana from Duluth, Minn. (Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Duluth)
• Jacqueline from Hayward, Calif. (Alameda County Housing Authority)
• Katie from Long Beach, Miss. (Mississippi Regional Housing Authority VII)
• Richis from Austin, Tex. (Housing Authority of the City of Austin)

Each winner lives in housing owned or administered by a NAHRO member agency.

“Congratulations to NAHRO’s scholarship winners,” said NAHRO President Sunny Shaw. “At NAHRO, we don’t just say our kids’ futures are important – we do something about it. Our members are proud to not only provide their communities with safe, decent and affordable housing, but also to support their educational goals.”

After the initial awards, NAHRO’s Housing America Advisory Committee selected three of these Merit College Scholarship recipients to become NAHRO-LDG Scholars.
